Peeps have heavy aroma, and aroma definitely affects taste - so it's for more than just appearance. Please stop making claims on a subject you don't know anything about. Not to mention, the whole point of stirring a martini is to chill and dilute the spirit to minimize the amount of ethanol that you taste. There are many factors that we don't quite understand that lead to that, including how much booze you've already got in your system. Some people can't stomach it, some barely taste it. The distillation of the barley gives it a distinct aroma and flavour of banana.Īs for your body naturally rejecting the taste of "pure" alcohol (vodka is more than half water usually dude), that seems to be entirely up to the individual. One of my favourite vodkas is the Reid from Cadrona distilling in NZ, it's distilled from malted barley like whisky, but isn't barrel aged so it can't be called whisky. There's no longer law about it being odorless and tasteless. And actually, by law vodka just has to be neutral spirit bottled at at least 40% (37.5% in Europe) and not barrel aged.
